How to read a job advert like a recruiter

Job adverts in The Bottom mix true requirements with wish lists, house style and boilerplate. JobSense separates them: the must-haves are the things an employer is unlikely to compromise on; the nice-to-haves are where you can still apply without ticking every box. It also explains phrases such as “fast-paced environment”, “self-starter” or “competitive salary” — what they usually mean in practice, and what to ask about.

Using the result

Mirror the advert's own words for the skills you really have, put the must-haves you meet near the top of your CV, and prepare an example for each one. Use the questions to ask in your interview — and if the advert shows red flags, ask about them early. Build your CV in the CV builder and check it against the advert with the resume score.

Does JobSense guess the salary?

No. It reports pay only when the advert states it, and every figure is checked against the advert's own text — if a number is not in the ad, you see “Not stated in the ad”. To see typical pay for a role, use the salary benchmarks.

How accurate is the decoding?

It is written by AI from the advert you paste, and it is told not to invent facts about the employer. Hidden signals describe what phrases usually mean — every employer is different, so treat them as questions to check, not conclusions.

What is saved, and who can see it?

When you are signed in, each result is saved to your Expertini account with the first 400 characters of the advert, so you can find it again on any device and in the Expertini app. Your CV text is used for the fit check and not stored. Only you can see your history.

How many adverts can I decode?

Each decode uses one AI request from your plan's monthly allowance. The free plan includes AI requests every month; Premium and Executive include more — see plans.
